app design

As a team, we worked together with the Historians to map out and visualize the app flow through flow charts and mockups. Along the way, we answered many questions like: will the users have to follow a specific stop order? What will navigation inside the app look like? Do we need a database? Should we save the state / progress of the tour if the app happens to crash? What happens if the user is in Germany and opens this app?
ar ideas

Given the themes and research the Historians wanted to explore at each stop, I brainstormed and drew out ideas for augmented reality experiences. Some of the ideas were: Portal into an otherwise restricted area, dome of artifacts surrounding the user, interactive map where users can place historical buildings, and statue with interactive bubbles.
ar implementation

Using Unity and Vuforia, I made two of my augmented reality come to life on both iPhone and Android. One of them was a portal that the user can walk into. Inside the portal, there is a 360 video where users can interact with certain buildings. The second idea was the dome of artifacts. Users are encased on all sides by a dome of objects, words, and pictures that the user can interact with.
ui design

I also collaborated with other student designers to make the UI interface for every page of the app. We started by each doing our own design for every page. Afterwards, we looked at the designs and discussed what we liked and what was not working. The final design is a combination of individual motifs.
